Montgomery County Herb Gardeners November Meeting Minutes

Landscaping with herbs was presented by Cherie Foster Colburn of Nature's Tapestry Landscape Design.

Business meeting included:
1. Presentation of 2009 HGMC slate of nominations for officers and committee chairs. Nominations were approved by majority vote. Several openings still exist. All members are urged to assume a fair share of the organizational responsibilities and help the club. So, please join in the fun and get involved.

2. Treasurer report was given.
3. Camille reported $147 was made selling herbs at The Woodlands Wildflower Festival.
4. Saturday, Nov. 22nd., will be the Fall workday at the Library Garden. Ancha asked everyone to come and bring their gardening tools. We will meet at 9 a.m. to begin the cleanup.
5. Fronica will host the Day Program on Nov. 21st., where Tussie Mussies will be made. The craft session begins at 10 a.m. and lunch will be at 11:30 a.m.
6. The December 15th meeting will be the HGMC Christmas Social held at Nancy's home. The tradition banditry (aka Indian Christmas) of gifts will occur. Bring a gift so you can participate in the game, dollar limit of $15 on the gift. Please bring a gastronomic dish (covered dish or dessert). Guests are invited, and if they bring a gift they can play the gift exchange too.
7. Rosa announced that Barbara B. will be a Tea Table hostess, and that completes the target of 10 hostess tables for the Tea Fair and Luncheon.

Day Meeting:
Ancha, Camille, Rosa, Margaret, and Robbynn met at Fronica's to put together Tussie Mussies...approximately 40 were finished with 20 more to complete. Discussion included the upcoming Herbal Tea and Day meetings vs. Night meetings. The next SIG and Luncheon will be Dec. 4th at Sally's.

Tea Table Set-up

Tea table hostesses are asked to provide the following items for their table set-up:
1. Tablecloth - white tablecloth is provided, you can layer a colored one on top if desired
2. Napkins (6)
3. Spoons for tea (6)
4. Plates (6)
5. Teascups & Saucers (6)
6. Teapots (3)
7. Sugar/Creamer/Lemon slices
8. Food trays or large plates/platters for the food (3 to 4)
9. Place cards with names for table guests (optional)
10. Featured Herb you have chosen, in an arrangement or in individual arrangements
11. Anything else you want to put on your table is up to your imagination

Please no candles on the tables.

Natasha is generously providing an engraved nameplate with the hostess' name to identify your table for your guests.

Herbal Tea Faire and Luncheon Menu

The Herbal Tea Faire and Luncheon is set for February 28th at the Friendship Center at 2235 Lake Robbins Drive. Tickets are $15.

Tea and food will be provided by club members. The menu is:

Savories
1. Watercress & butter finger Sandwiches (Carol B.)
2. Egg salad with dill with egg slices on top, open faced on dark bread (Camille)
3. Turkey & ham rolled meat with rosemary cream cheese on toothpicks (Kiki)
4. Spinach quiche with basil (Stephanie)
5. Cheese & sage mini muffins (Rosa)

Sweets
1. Cheesecake with Lemon balm (Anne)
2. Lavender shortbread/teacakes (Natasha)
3. Fudge (Fronica)
4. White Chocolate with ginger (Ancha)
5. Seasonal fruit on plate (?)

Tea
4 different teas will be available for each table

December SIG Craft Session and Pot Luck

The December SIG craft session and pot luck will be at Sally's on December 4th and we will be jarring spices and herbal sugar for sale at our Herbal Tea and Fair in February. Come join the fun.
